Recruit Class 27 – Weeks 15 & 16
Over the past two weeks, the 9 recruits of the Monroe Fire Department have begun their Technical Rescue training, expanding their knowledge and skills in specialized rescue operations.
Technical Rescue incidents often present unique challenges that require advanced problem-solving, teamwork, and attention to detail. As the academy progresses, recruits are being introduced to the concepts and techniques needed to operate safely and effectively in these complex environments.
The recruits also completed a major physical training milestone by finishing their final academy PT run. Together, the class covered more than 8 miles through woods, fields, and varying terrain, demonstrating the endurance, determination, and teamwork they have developed throughout the academy.
From the classroom to the training ground, Class 27 continues to build the skills, knowledge, and resilience needed to serve the citizens of Monroe.

Today, members of the Monroe Fire Department were honored to participate in the Memorial Day Service at Lakeland Memorial Park.
Chief Fowler, Battalion 1, Ladder 1, and Rescue 5 proudly represented MFD during the ceremony, including the display of the American flag with our apparatus as we joined the community in remembering and honoring the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.
Memorial Day is more than a long weekend — it is a time to pause, reflect, and remember the sacrifices made by those who never made it home. Their courage and dedication to protecting our freedoms will never be forgotten.
We would like to thank Lakeland Memorial Park for hosting this meaningful event and for inviting the Monroe Fire Department to be a part of today’s remembrance ceremony.
