As 2017 comes to a close, Milky Mixtures would like to thank all of our customers and followers for all of the love and support that we have received. Hard to believe we've only been doing this for 6 months. Thank you for all of the positive feedback 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟. If you had milk supply issues previously and wish to have a better supply the next go-around, something that you can do to get your supply off to a great start is to nurse in the first hour, "The Golden Hour". The early removal of colostrum has been shown to have very positive effects on milk supply. Newborns have also been shown to receive more colostrum during this time, most likely due to the pitocin/oxytocin from labor. As long as there are no health issues related to Mom or baby, this time should be reserved for mom and baby to have uniterrupted skin to skin for breastfeeding initiation until the feeding has been completed. That can range anywhere from 20 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes. Let baby decide!

Setting up a routine can be very beneficial for adjusting to a new life with a newborn. However, when it comes to breastfeeding, not so much. It is best to feed your baby on demand. More often than not your baby will not be able to wait a specific amount of time that a schedule proposes and could cause issues with weight gain as well as keeping your supply up! Don't watch the⏰, watch your 👶👶🏻👶🏼👶🏽👶🏾👶🏿

According to the 2016 CDC Breastfeeding Report Card, these are the rates of breastfed babies in 2013. Why so low and the dramatic decrease? The CDC suspects a lack of SUPPORT to mamas by family, friends AND health care providers. Whether that support be physical, emotional or mental, ALL mamas deserve to be supported 100% in order to achieve their breastfeeding goal!
