My recent resignation from the General Assembly has also been confused as a resignation from the Will County Republican Central Committee as chairman. I have not resigned as chair and intend to continue this important work with continued support of our local precinct committeepersons.

However, I will continue to dedicate my time and efforts to make Illinois a better place. On April 6th, 1891, Ellen Martin became the first woman to vote in the state of Illinois. Ellen demanded to cast her vote, citing that local law did not use the word ‘male’ but instead said all citizens ‘above the age of 21 years’ were eligible to vote.
