Are you a lucky little lady in the City of Light, or just another lost angel?

Never be afraid to take a closer look... πŸ” because beneath the surface, you may just find yourself.

- Omg I’m sh****ng myself right now - that is one bad ass quote πŸ˜πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚ by yours truly - haha have a nice day y’all!

More street photography. I like this one because it was totally unexpected and spontaneous. πŸ™Œ

Harry "Stormin" Norman. This man was gracious enough to let me take several photos of him on the street while finishing up a school project.

Jim Dixon was born south of Modesto. His father was a dairy farmer who passed away while Jim was still young. His mother helped raise him and Jim contributed what he could however, it was not enough and they eventually had to give up the farm and start anew. Jim grew up and joined the Air Force. After that he settled in San Jose as a barber following advice from a fellow serviceman. He told me what business was like back then and societal norms that people followed. It was sometime around the 60s and the Vietnam era. Revolution was in the air β€” from the way people dressed to the music on the radio. He remembers fathers bringing in their kids to have their long hair cut. It was a time of β€œlong hair, peace and love.” Eventually he came and set up shop in Modesto’s airport district in the early 70s. He remembers what it was like back then as a stark comparison to what it is now: run-down and dilapidated. I came to Mr. Dixon while photographing the Yosemite Boulevard area for my final project. Two weeks ago I came in for my final haircut and noticed the sign on his front door. His building was under lease until recently the owners decided to sell the property. It’s now in the process of being demolished and becoming a gas station. I was saddened by this so I thought I’d share his story. That day he shared with me how he met his wife of 50+ years. Jim had intended to retire a year from now but this new development changed his plans. He now looks to what can be done in the future in an early retirement. Thank you for letting me take your portrait and sharing your time. Farewell.

β€” I am recollecting this story from conversations, none of which I bothered to write down. These are written from memory. Please excuse any discrepancies β€”
