"In a career spanning decades, he redefined the relationship between racial equity, regionalism and the environment." He will be greatly missed. 💚

Remembering Carl Anthony, architect who brought racial equity analysis to environmental movement He co-founded the Breakthrough Communities project in Oakland, directed a Ford Foundation initiative and served on the Berkeley Planning Commission.

Everyday, our feed reminds us of the tragedies and intentional violence currently ongoing. We are surrounded by endless headlines that are designed to make violence feel normal.

Those in power rely on consumers of media feeling numb or too distracted to care. They hope we will cast away the issue as something "too far away to be our concern."

Our grief connects us across borders and struggles. It reminds us that none of us are free until all of us are free. If they can do it to them, what is stopping them from doing it to us?

Mourning those you've never met is solidarity. Keep leaving space in your heart for those suffering at the hands of those in (forced) power.
