Hello! We’ve been dreading this post, but I wanted to provide a quick update on Riley and I. I have accepted a conditional offer with a neighboring law enforcement agency and I start next month. With that being said, retiring Riley early and taking him with me was not an option, and the department has selected a new handler to take him. I was on the interview panel for Riley's new handler and came up with specific questions related to Riley/the position, and had a say in who Riley's new handler is. Riley's new handler is no stranger to Riley and I, and has worked on the same floor with us since we first became a team.
Over the next couple of weeks, Riley's new handler will be shadowing us on the streets/trainings, and bonding with Riley as time permits. Most importantly, I'm going to soak up these last couple of weeks with my boy. I could go on and on about mine and Riley's relationship, but I think you all know this will be incredibly tough for the both of us. We have built an incredible bond over the years and he has not only been my partner, but a member of my family.
Lastly, I would like to thank our followers. Your love and support for Riley and I has been incredibly overwhelming. The daily messages telling us to stay safe, the good jobs, the high fives, the hoorahs after big busts, the smiles on your faces (even if they are just emojis), this is what kept us motivated. We have received thousands of messages over the years, and at times it became difficult to respond to every one of them, but I promise you I read them all.
I will be retiring our page; however, Riley will still be on social media with his new handler. His new page will be . Please go follow them! This isn't our last post just yet, just wanted to keep you all updated.

Another one bites the dust…
Last fall, we arrested a subject on PRCS for narcotics sales and felon in possession of a firearm. Today we were notified that he was sentenced to three years in state prison!

Nice day for a car wash right? 😂
This afternoon, handler and his partner from ISU spotted a subject known to be on Post Release Community Supervision. The subject was observed getting out of his vehicle and was quickly detained.
A search of the vehicle was conducted and officers discovered a loaded .357 handgun on the floorboard of the driver seat. The subject was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm, and for being a felon in possession of ammunition.
Zoomin into Monday like....

Today we contacted a subject on Post Release Community Supervision who was purchasing car parts at a wrecking yard. Officers located the subjects vehicle nearby and he claimed it wasn’t his (even though he had the keys 🤔).
K9 Riley was deployed and alerted to a black magnetic box inside of the engine compartment. Officers then discovered a large amount of crystal m**hamphetamine inside of the box. This particular subject is also on PRCS for drug sales. The subject was arrested for 11378H&S, 1137H&S, and 3454PC, all felonies.

This evening, bad guy decided to 🏃♂️ 💨 from us today and fortunately for him, got away.
Unfortunately, bad guy tossed his backpack he was wearing and left his (2) loaded handguns and his close to 3 ounces of crystal m**hamphetamine behind him.
A compliance check was conducted at his residence and with the assistance of Riley, officers discovered more ammunition, crystal m**hamphetamine, and evidence of narcotics sales.
Guess we have someone to look for in the next coming weeks 😉

Today we contacted a subject on PRCS who had just been involved in a minor vehicle collision. Unfortunately for him, it happened right in front of us 😅
The subject was detained and a search of his vehicle was conducted. Riley alerted to the corner of the engine and officers discovered a small container containing multiple baggies of crystal m**hamphetamine. A further search of the vehicle revealed a large can of tear gas, and a “shuriken” or commonly referred to as a ninja star.
The subject was arrested for transporting narcotics, possession of tear gas, possession of a shuriken, and a 10-day flash incarceration hold.

Handler and his partner were out looking for bad guy. Bad guy wasn’t around but happened to have some friends over, who are also into doing “bad things.”
Bad guys friends were handcuffed, then Riley ran around the house, licked some ice cream out of a bowl 🙄 , and alerted to a purse. I figured it was more ice cream, but it ended up being a bunch of crystal m**h instead 🙂
A female was arrested for narcotics sales, and Riley played tug-o-war with his tennis ball in the front yard. End of Report.

Last night, the Stanislaus County Probation Department’s first K9, K9 Bear, was laid to rest. K9 Bear was 16 years old and served the citizens of Stanislaus County for almost 10 years with his handler, Officer Strode.
K9 Bear and Officer Strode paved the way for the future of the K9 Units in our department. Together they seized over $500,000.00 in narcotics and over $50,000.00 in cash from crimes. Not to mention the countless community and school presentations they conducted during his years of service.
I personally fell in love with idea of being a K9 handler after having Officer Strode as my FTO, and seeing his bond with K9 Bear. I know Bear is looking down on us and rooting us on! Rest easy buddy, and thank you for your hard work and dedication to the citizens of Stanislaus County.
