What I’ve learned about patience…

I’ve been battling with my weight for years, and it’s amazing how our minds can sometimes tell us a story that isn’t fully true. I didn’t realize just how out of shape I had become until I made the decision to change—and even then, it felt like an uphill battle.

Along the way, I’ve had to remind myself (many times) that this journey is a marathon, not a sprint. What took years to gain won’t come off in a matter of weeks. And more importantly, my progress is my own—I can’t compare it to anyone else, especially not to someone half my age.

I’m learning to give myself grace, to stop being so hard on myself, and to understand that needing a little “extra help” doesn’t mean I’ve failed—it means I’m committed to becoming better.

Patience isn’t easy, but it’s necessary. And I’m still learning it every day. 💛

Dr. Gladys West, who is she?
This Black History Month, we honor Dr. Gladys West, a brilliant mathematician whose work quietly changed the world.
As one of the first Black women to work as a mathematician at the U.S. Naval Weapons Laboratory, Dr. West played a critical role in developing the mathematical models that made GPS technology possible. Every time we use our phones for directions, locate a loved one, or navigate a new city—we are benefiting from her legacy.
For many years, her contributions went unrecognized. Today, we celebrate not only her genius, but her perseverance, humility, and commitment to excellence in spaces where Black women were rarely welcomed.
Dr. Gladys West reminds us that Black history is innovative, powerful, and present in our everyday lives.
💛 We honor her. We thank her. We remember.

Interstimg how 2 very diverse days happen to coincidence.
For me, there was no question or doubt of who or what I would celebrate. Thank you, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for paving the way.
