As a participant you will …
Expand your understanding of Modesto and Stanislaus County through exposure to community issues you may not otherwise have the opportunity to explore. Exchange ideas with current experts, decision makers and community leaders on a broad range of topics. You will also develop close relationships and with other class members and community leaders while working towards a community enhancement "class project." Leadership Modesto is a ten-month program that is covered in nine, one-day seminars and a weekend retreat. Those selected will discuss, explore and gain “hands on” experience in the areas of:
Local Government, and Politics
Community Services
Education
Health Care
Arts, Culture and Community
State Government - Tour State Capitol
Infrastructure and Land Use
Public Safety
Business Strategies
Agriculture
The program will also include a weekend retreat focused on team building and leadership skills. Applications are sought and encouraged from all segments of the community, including business, professional services, government, education, civic organizations, the arts and labor. 🐾 A Better Yard Starts With YOU
Dogs waiting for their forever homes deserve a clean, safe place to run, play, and meet the families who will love them. That’s why Leadership Modesto Class of 2026 created Cause for Paws — a project to install durable turf and better drainage at the Stanislaus Animal Services Agency.
This upgrade will help:
🐶 Keep dogs healthier
🐶 Improve sanitation and safety
🐶 Reduce the spread of disease
🐶 Create a welcoming space for adoptions

Leadership Modesto Class of 2025 dreamed big and pulled off a community-wide talent competition on April 13, 2025, hosted at the historic State Theatre in Downtown Modesto. 🤩
Spotlight Modesto showcased 10 unique and dynamic acts, each one bringing their heart and talent to the stage. It was an unforgettable afternoon filled with music, dancing, art, beatboxing, poetry, and so much more! 🎤 🎶 💃🏻
Our top two winners were:
🥇1st place: Ballet Folklorico Viva Mexico de Riverbank, Sinaloa
🥈2nd place: Vintage Youth
But beyond the amazing talent and prizes, what we’re most proud of is the impact.
Together, we raised an incredible $55,000 for Without Permission to help them build a safe house for survivors of s*x trafficking right here in the Central Valley.
