Banned Book Week is October 4th through October 10th this year!
The theme is to Let Books Be, we always want to protect the freedom to read.

The American Library Association created banned book week back in 1982 as a response to the "sudden surge in the number of challenges to books in libraries, bookstores, and schools." Every year we do our part to make this week as important as it deserves. The rate at which books are being banned is only rising and censorship trends are continually skewed by organized campaigns. Learning more about what censorship is and how it can affect our communities is vital in letting books be.

We CAN do our part to fight censorship. Staying aware and educating yourself is a great first step. For more information on banned books in the US check out the ALA website! Check back in next week to learn different ways to fight censorship with your local community.

Join Bookish in welcoming the Lamplight Readers Theatre for their inaugral performance of War of the Worlds - The Panic Broadcast a Science Fiction Comedy

What can you expect from this Reader's Theatre? A “Staged Reading is a form of theater where Actors or “Readers” enact a show, story or play, without the use of costumes, props or set.

Typically sat in chairs or stool, the “Reader”(s) perform script in hand, along with a “Narrator”, who reads scenic details and various other elements to keep pace of the story with audio SFx. Low sensory, intimate. Chance to experience shows and stories you would never hear or see otherwise.

Join us for a super special interactive storytime experience!

Zumbini is a music and movement program for children aged 0-5 years and their caregivers. Zumbini is created by Child Development Specialists to promote healthy development in all areas: social-emotional, physical, and cognitive development; while promoting bonding between child and caregiver.

Session is 45 minutes of singing, dancing, instrument-play, and more to promote healthy growth in the developing child.
