MJC Baseball had a remarkable season! Not only did the team make college history by winning the 2026 Big 8 championships, for the first time, but they also broke the MJC overall season total win record, with 33 wins!

Alex Leach was named the Big 8 Coach of the Year, and Troy Morrow was honored as the Big 8 MVP and Freshman of the Year. The team also had the honor of breaking in the newly dedicated Bo Aiello Baseball Field at the Jerry Streeter Baseball Park.

The Pirates hosted the Norcal regionals in which they beat Reedley College and San Mateo College to advance to the super regionals. Well done, Pirates!

The MJC Me-Wuk afternoon preschool program is currently accepting applications for children two and a half, to five years old. The program is open now, through July 13th, and available Monday through Thursday, on MJC's West Campus on Blue Gum Ave.

The MJC Baseball team closes out an impressive season by ranking 3rd in Northern California, and advancing to the 3C2A NorCal Super Regionals. Today, they are hosting Santa Rosa Junior College in a best-of-three series at 2pm, Jerry Streeter Ballpark, East campus. The series takes place May 7-9. Come out and support! This past weekend, MJC celebrated community, connection and Cinco de Mayo at the annual South Modesto Businesses United (SMBU) Cinco de Mayo parade. Mascots, Petey and Penelope were aboard the Pirate ship, exuding MJC Pirate Pride! Staff and faculty walked the colorful and spirited parade down Crows Landing Road, amongst many parade-goers and families.

Latine Leadership Network welcomed nearly 100 MJC students were recognized for completing a Certificate, Associate degree, and/or a Transfer degree during the 9th Annual Chicanx/Latinx Graduation Celebration. This bilingual (English/Spanish) ceremony celebrates the academic accomplishments of each student while equally honoring the crucial support of their families. At the recent Star Awards ceremony, over 180 Behavioral and Social Science (BSS) students received Star Student Awards. Faculty from 11 different disciplines, selected students for the award, based on outstanding academic accomplishments, exceptional contributions in class discussions and/or projects, and overcoming academic and life challenges.

Families, faculty, and administrators watched as their students walked the stage to accept their prestigious acknowledgement, along with swag bags, at this inspirational event.
