I thought we'd start World Doula Week with celebrating my most recent birth. Emmeline was born on 2/11/22 and made quite an entrance. After labor stalled for several hours parents made the decision to break her water. Less than an hour later Little Miss Thang came Earthside so fast that the doctor didn't even have time to put gloves on! Mom was an absolute rock star all through labor and delivery, even choosing to not have meds of any kind. Dad is a pro and was rock solid in his support through it all from the first contractions to cutting the cord. Congrats Melinda and Roman Yegiyants!!!

Tell me your birth story below! ALL birth stories are fascinating, needed, and valid!

Motherhood is something that you're born into. This is why, after the baby is born, a doula stays with the new mother, not the baby. The baby is well taken care of by the medical team. The woman that just gave birth has so much work left to do (birth the placenta, breastfeed, bond, etc.) that she will still need a great deal of help. That's where a doula comes in! Doulas stay for up to a few hours after birth to make sure that The Golden Hour is respected and revered. This important skin-to-skin time can never be gotten back, so it's important to have someone hold that space for the new family.

Hey Moms, what was your Golden Hour like? ❤❤❤

This quote is from ACOG (The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists), who are the leading word on all things birth. Just what are the "improved outcomes" that they quote? Shorter labors, fewer C-sections, less chance of interventions (forceps/vacuum), among others. What's not to love?!

Loose Lips, Loose Hips or Floppy Face, Floppy F***y.... either way you remember it, it means an easier birth!
