Today marks a new beginning for the Modesto Roadsters, not only for District 2, but for the Central Valley as a whole.
This is more than baseball. It’s about community, family, local pride, and bringing people together through America’s pastime.
Thank you to everyone who helped make today’s opening day a reality. ⚾️

Honored and proud to earn the endorsement of Stanislaus County Supervisor Mani Grewal as I seek re-election.
In case you missed it, this week my council colleagues and I unanimously approved a project to convert the decades-old El Capitan Motel on Needham St into permanent supportive housing for military veterans and residents experiencing behavioral health challenges.
With rents capped at $600 a month, it turns an underused property into 48 stable, affordable housing units for our community. This initiative reflects Modesto’s continued commitment to innovative, community-based solutions to affordable housing.
Key service and housing partners for the project include:
- Stanislaus County Behavioral Health and Recovery
Services (BHRS)
- Catholic Charities SSVF Veteran Program
- Housing Authority of Stanislaus County, through the
VASH program in partnership with the U.S.
Department of Veterans Affairs
Big progress in District 2: Construction is nearly complete at Fourth St. Park, the city’s $17 million park renovation project. The largest park renovation in the city’s history will feature a new aquatics facility, upgraded soccer field, skate park, and improved basketball courts for our community to enjoy and make new memories.
We’re also enhancing safety with new cameras connected to the Modesto Police Department Real-Time Crime Center, making our parks safer and more welcoming for all.

Yesterday, Mayor Zwahlen and I had the opportunity to welcome Congressman Adam Gray (CA-13) for a tour of the Modesto Police Department Real Time Crime Center, as well as Modesto Fire Department Station #1.
Public safety and enhancing the quality of life for our residents remain top priorities for both Congressman Gray and the City of Modesto. We are grateful for his continued support of our public safety professionals and the important work they do to serve our community.
