One of the most fun things about the vinyl business is the detective work that goes into trying to value old, beautiful, collectible objects. There’s a lot of knowledge required & one could study a lifetime and still only scratch the surface. We’ve recently bought a collection of 10,000 LPs and the original owner had a complete Steely Dan catalog, most albums had multiple copies and versions.

In the picture, one’s an original early pressing, ones a Platinum Plus reissue & ones a reissue put out by another label, all are VG+ condition but have varying values based on pressing.

Not only are they fun to listen to, collect, buy and sell but they stimulate 4 of 5 senses (& I guess one could taste them if they wanted.) Can’t say that about streaming or MP3s!
