The Punta Gorda group is making great progress with the gazebo project.

The El Paso group hiked Mount Cristo Rey to see the expanse of the border in the region while reflecting on the stations of the cross.

Our group in Punta Gorda started work on the gazebo they are building in a nearby Mayan village. The gazebo will give students of the school a comfortable place to eat lunch and gather. Our Badgers are strong! They were mixing concrete and setting posts. Of course after a hard day's work there's time to rest in a hammock enjoying the Caribbean breeze!

Our El Paso group met fellow badger, Fr. Michael Gallagher. Fr. Gallagher is now a Jesuit priest working at Jesuit Refugee services in El Paso. He taught us about global migration and share stories of the many places he worked with JRS.

Our Badgers were also busy in the kitchen the last two days cooking special meals for Holy Family shelter.

Our Dominican Republic group immersed into the history of the country while visiting historical markers in the colonial zone. This history is important for understanding current issues and the DR's relationship with Haiti.

Our El Paso trip is underway. We arrived safely in El Paso last night and began with visiting from people who are living and working on a border. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at Cafe Mayapan, with authentic Oaxacan Mexican food. We also heard a talk from the women at La Mujer Obrera, who are organizing for their community.

It is the season for giving and we would appreciate your support of our Immersion programs. Our students are preparing for trips in the Spring that will serve in Punta Gorda, Belize; Quito, Ecuador; and El Paso, TX. It is our 20th anniversary of immersions at Spring Hill and we are hoping to continue the formation of students while serving communities for many more years.
