The purpose of audiometric testing is to monitor an employee on an annual basis to determine if exposure to occupational noise has a negative effect on their hearing. An initial test establishes the employee's baseline hearing levels. Subsequent testing is then performed to see if there has been a shift in hearing. The data management consists of a disc or book compiled with the following information: all employee test results (includes baseline test & current test), a list of employees with a standard threshold shift (STS) 10 dB classification, a list of employees with a recordable STS dB classification, a comprehensive summary of all employees that were flagged with an STS as well as recommendations for each employee, and individual employee copies of test (baseline & current) with an explanation of their results
