The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) increased the standard business mileage rate to 76 cents per mile starting July 1, 2026. The change was announced mid-year on July 13, 2026, in response to rising fuel and vehicle operating costs.

2026 Mileage Rate Breakdown
Because of this mid-year update, 2026 has two distinct tracking periods:

January 1 – June 30, 2026: 72.5 cents per business mile

July 1 – December 31, 2026: 76 cents per business mile

Other Updated Rates (Effective July 1, 2026)
Medical and moving: Increased from 20.5 cents to 23.5 cents per mile
Charitable organizations: Remained unchanged at 14 cents per mile (set by statute)
