SHC Student Media gets more awards! The latest are three awards in the prestigious College Media Association's College Media Pinnacle Awards.
The special issue of "TheSpringHillian" newspaper devoted to the historic inauguration of Dr. Mary Van Brunt as president of SHC won first place in the "Best Special Section/More than Four pages" category. The commemorative issue was produced by students Tori Ellis, Peri Carr, Fae Fox, Nate Polk and Samantha Gonzalez. SHC Marketing & Communications' Corey Jenkins provided the photography used in the issue.
Fae Fox also received a second-place win in the "Best Video Special Event Coverage" category for her story covering the opening of the Janden Richards Center for Community Collaboration in May.
Natalie Williamson received third place in the "Best Use of Short (sub 3-min) Video for News & Information" Category for her coverage of campus action taken over mold concerns in residence hall rooms in October 2022.
Dr. Babington said that "College communicators at SHC have been accumulating awards at a higher pace over the past two or three years. The passionate desire to succeed found in students like the ones recognized for these awards have driven this advancement. The students are too numerous to mention, but our junior/senior student media managers are doing a great job of maintaining a high standard, and contest judges are seeing this in the content."
According to the CMA website, the Pinnacle Awards "honor the best collegiate media organizations and individual work."
These submissions were judged against colleges with an enrollment of 2999 students and under.
Earlier this year, SHC student media content received five awards, including three first place finishes, in the Catholic Media Association's St. Juan Diego Collegiate Awards.
Congrats to these outstanding Comm Arts Student Media Badgers!
