Debs Designs in Mobile

My project is finished!
About a month ago, I saw pictures of a lovely wedding on FB, but what really caught my eye was the stunningly beautiful wedding cake.
A friend  connected me to the bride; I reached out to her and explained I wanted to create a fascinator that looked like the top tier of her wedding cake. Not for her to buy, but for me to give her. She was thrilled!
The joy and the challenge of doing this was worth every minute!

We have a friend who travels often from Washington to London. He is attending the Royal Ascot and the Trooping of the Colours today, as is several of my British classmates. It’s quite a formal event with strict dress codes. He just sent me these amazing shots of British royalty and guests at the racetrack

Artistic skills come into play as I work on my project’s details. My medium isn’t paint, it’s feathers; each one meticulously placed. His beak is a quill tip.

I love how neutral colors can play well with others. This “Cream and Caramel” sinamay hat is completely handmade and features a handmade feather mount in brown, caramel and ivory, and two quills for a bit of whimsy!

as I was cleaning up, I came across these two quills, and held them up next to the hat that I just finished. See pic #3 and #4. Hmmm, what do you think? Add them to the hat or not?

Finished this glorious red halo crown a few days ago. Completely hand stitched in red sinamay with loops and bits of red veiling. A lovely accessory you can wear year round!
