We had a great time with our camp counselors giving the Community Canopy container a fresh coat of paint!

A huge thank you to Stephen Rodriguez for volunteering his professional painting expertise and helping us get our container prepared for our upcoming Watermelon Festival. 🍉

Huge shout out to everyone who helped make today a success!

This past weekend was awesome! 🌱

We had the pleasure of being part of Keep Mobile Beautiful’s Earth Day event, and it did not disappoint. We connected with so many brilliant, like-minded people who are passionate about urban gardening and preserving our environment. It was especially great having our friends from Mobile Urban Growers stop by our tent and show love.

What started out as a rainy day turned into a sunny, high-energy experience filled with education, connection, and people genuinely excited about sustainability and community-based initiatives. And for a little comic relief—despite one of our tents deciding to take flight on us 😅—it somehow led to us meeting local meteorologist Ed Bloodsworth. Not exactly how we planned it, but we’ll take it!

Moments like this remind us why we do what we do at Community Canopy Initiative. 🌍

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who came out and helped us bring our very first urban garden to life 🌱🍉

What started as an idea is now something real, and that’s because of the time, energy, and support each of you poured into this project. We may be a small team, but we’re passionate about the work we’re doing at Community Canopy Initiative, and this is just the beginning.

We also want to extend a special thank you to Lowe’s for partnering with us and donating the supplies that made this day possible. Their support played a huge role in helping us get this garden off the ground.

We’re excited to watch this garden grow, produce plenty of watermelons, and hopefully inspire others in our community to start their own urban gardens.

Thank you for being a part of our mission to address food insecurity in our communities.

We’re planting watermelons this Saturday, April 18th from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at 1460 Pitman Dr, and we’d love for you to come out and be a part of it. This is a great opportunity to get involved, connect with the community, and help us bring our first garden to life. No experience is needed—just come ready to lend a hand and enjoy the process. Refreshments and tools will be provided. If you’re interested, feel free to reach out to Brandon Norwood at 801-913-4782 or email [email protected] We hope to see you there! 🍉🌱
