🏆 Celebrating Excellence in South Dakota High School Athletics! 🏆

While the 2026 SDHSCA Awards Ceremony may be over, we're not done recognizing the incredible individuals who make a lasting impact on high school activities across South Dakota.

The South Dakota High School Coaches Association is proud to recognize Cory Aadland as our 2026 Athletic Director of the Year! 👏

Since becoming Activities Director for the Mitchell School District in 2016, Cory has demonstrated outstanding leadership and a steadfast commitment to enhancing opportunities for student-athletes, coaches, and the entire school community. Under his leadership, Mitchell has seen major facility improvements, including the installation of artificial turf, the opening of a $12 million Performing Arts Center, and the successful passage of a $17 million bond to complete athletic facilities at the new high school.

Beyond facilities, Cory has championed innovative programming through student leadership initiatives, technology enhancements, and expanded support for coaches and student-athletes. As a Certified Master Athletic Administrator (CMAA), he continues to shape the future of education-based athletics by serving as the SDIAAA Leadership Training Institute Coordinator, a member of the NIAAA Board of Directors, and through numerous leadership roles at both the state and national levels.

His dedication has earned him numerous honors, including:
🏅 2021 SDIAAA Region 6 Athletic Director of the Year
🏅 2021 Steve Berseth Professional Development Award
🏅 2024 NIAAA State Award of Merit

Cory believes education-based athletics are a powerful extension of the classroom—developing leadership, character, accountability, and lifelong skills that prepare students for success far beyond graduation.
