MYRTLE'S MEGA BIRTHDAY BASH

If you've been around Mega Wash for a while, you've probably met Myrtle. She's spent plenty of days hanging around the wash, keeping an eye on things, and making friends along the way.

On June 27th, we're celebrating her birthday the best way we know how.

Stop by for a wash and help support a good cause while you're at it. A portion of the day's proceeds will be donated to local animal shelters in the Mitchell, Huron, and Sioux Falls areas.

Come get your ride cleaned up, celebrate Myrtle, and help us give back to some four-legged friends who could use it.

This weather has been all over the place…
snow, rain, wind,
and just to keep things interesting, a little layer of bugs too.

What exactly is wax: Car wax is a protective coating applied to the outside of a vehicle.

It helps:
• Protect paint from sun damage
• Repel water and road grime
• Reduce dirt sticking to the surface
• Add that deep glossy shine

Today’s car washes use advanced synthetic waxes and sealants, but the idea of protecting vehicles with wax goes back over 200 years.

Here’s a quick look at how it evolved:

1800s
Before cars even existed, people used animal fats and natural oils to protect wagon and carriage finishes from weather and dirt.

Early 1900s
As automobiles became popular, companies began using natural carnauba wax from Brazilian palm leaves to create shine and paint protection.

1910–1930s
One of the first famous car wax brands, Simoniz, was introduced and became so popular people would say they were getting their car “Simonized.”

1940s
Car wax products became easier for everyday drivers to use with liquid and paste formulas sold in stores.

1950s–1970s
The car care industry exploded with brands like Turtle Wax and J-Wax, making wax a standard part of vehicle maintenance.
