A new chapter begins for one of the Rio Grande Valley’s most iconic destinations.

Mission EDC, in partnership with the City of Mission, has announced New Cimarron Group, LLC as the private ownership group that will lead the redevelopment of the historic Cimarron Country Club property. The group is led by Mission native and professional golfer Abraham Ancer.

The redevelopment plans include the restoration of the championship golf course, clubhouse renovations, new dining and hospitality offerings, expanded event spaces, infrastructure upgrades, and the future development of a potential boutique hotel.

This project represents a major investment in Mission’s future, with plans to create hundreds of jobs, strengthen tourism and hospitality, support local businesses, and enhance quality of life for residents and visitors.

Collaboration across borders is creating new opportunities for the future of the Rio South Texas region.

Mission EDC CEO Teclo Garcia joined fellow economic development leaders from across South Texas this morning for a panel discussion hosted by COSTEP during the official visit of the Cluster Automotriz de San Luis Potosí. The conversation focused on workforce solutions, infrastructure, logistics, and the importance of strengthening the ties that connect South Texas and Mexico.

As global industries continue to look toward our region, partnerships like these are more important than ever.

By working together, communities across the Rio South Texas region are creating new opportunities, attracting investment, and positioning our area as a leading destination for advanced manufacturing and international trade.

Six weeks. Real experience. Endless possibilities. 🚀

Last Friday, Mission EDC welcomed the inaugural class of the Mission Ready Internship Program for orientation at the CEED.

Students received an overview of program requirements and expectations and participated in sessions focused on workplace professionalism, building a positive digital presence, and financial literacy presented by Texas National Bank.

Over the next six weeks, these interns will gain hands-on experience across a variety of industries while earning a paycheck and developing valuable career skills.

Thank you to F&P Brands for helping kick off the program by providing breakfast and lunch for our students throughout orientation.

Mission Ready is designed to connect local talent with real-world opportunities while strengthening the workforce pipeline for our community. We look forward to following the journey of our inaugural class over the next six weeks.
