Engineer shout-out!

This is Grant Baker, an experienced engineer at MultiSource, and he's working on a custom wire housing component for an aerospace customer. They recently increased the diameter of an electrical wire passing through this part and needed an adjustment that could be easily duplicated at a large volume. Grant created a custom shape to give the new wire more space, and adjusted the start and end points of the milling tool to quickly create a perfect interior surface that protects it and prevents fraying.

Great parts start with great engineers, and ours are experts at bridging customer needs with machine shop capabilities.

Education doesn't stop when the job starts. MultiSource offers its employees the time and resources to learn the advanced software needed to create complex precision parts. There are lots of CNC software training options in the Twin Cities, but our favorite is ProtoTek Engineering, a Mastercam training center in Carver, MN.

It's never too late to advance your career or even take it in a new direction.

That's exactly what Jon Judkins is doing, a valued employee at MultiSource. He currently works in the shipping department but has an opportunity to become a machinist through a partnership between MultiSource and the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry Dual-Training Pipeline program. He just started his second semester this week, and while it's tough to juggle multiple jobs and school, he says it will be well worth the investment. He balances classroom time with shop floor experience, immediately applying his newly learned skills to production under supervision from an experienced mentor.

January is National Mentoring Month! Employee training and mentoring are huge factors in the success of a business, especially in these times of labor shortages.

We are excited to work with the State of Minnesota's Dual Training Pipeline program, a grant that provides employees with a combination of formal education, on-the-job training and mentorship. This grant helps employees who are in manufacturing adjacent positions but want to advance their career to the machine shop floor.

It's been a great year at MultiSource. Before we look forward to the new year, it's good to look back for a moment. We had some fun company picnics and golf outings, gave back to the community, hired some new talent, and acquired new technology.

Oh. My. Gosh. You guys. Santa stopped by our Burnsville facility! He said that some of the items from our wish list might need to be saved for future Christmases, but a couple are very doable. We'll just need to wait and find out which ones!
