Love those days when the kids come home and tell you they need a costume tomorrow… smh. She rocks it everytime like it’s couture.

I grew up with music. My grandfather was a vocalist that sang in the church and my mother was operatically trained and spent all of her career in music, directing choirs, musicals, plays and still leads her ensemble that she created. When I was young she would take me to musicals and instantly, I fell in love. I saw for the first time about fifteen years ago in Chicago with my parents and my then boyfriend, now husband, who was meeting them for the first time. He were are now, years later, with our own kids taking immersing our kids in the arts and it’s just as special for me now with them as it was with my mom. I do take it a step further by inhabiting the characters and dressing up because I love it. And I love to exist in these moments in time that I know we won’t get back and I know these are times they will remember. Something about music that just takes my heart and brings it to a place bigger than itself. Grateful for this time…. *production note: We did not get to do the full one photoshoot I wanted ;) but we did get a quick impromptu one in brother’s yard lit by our van headlights. Video shot by my 7 year old son. He has a good eye, doesn’t he?
