Hey there HNY! The Gooneybirds were lucky enough to have quite a few really good soundmen over the years. One of the best was Jay Perlman. He’s incredibly good at turning the k***s, he’s patient, and gosh darn it people like him. Including us! Back in the day, he put on quite a few miles with us touring the U.S. Can’t tell you how much it means to all of us to have him as a friend. We probably havent said it enough so thank you again Jay for all your love & support!

Oh! And one more thing, today is a very special day. Everbody say:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAY PERLMAN!
🎂🎁🎉

Love u bud,
the Gooneybird fellas

Hey everyone, it’s our buddy Vic’s birthday today. This guy traveled a lot of miles with the Gooneybirds, turned k***s on the soundboard, loaded/unloaded gear, drove many, many, miles in both the “bluebird” (band van) & the “yellow sub” (gear truck), etc. Our brother Vic… thank you for your friendship & support over the years! You’re the best. ❤️ the Gooneybirds

Everybody say: HAPPY BIRTHDAY VIC!

Hello Gooneybirds Friends and Family. Things have been all quiet on the Gooney front for a while now. Lately we've been sharing individual accomplishments from some of our former GB family members. However, we do have some exciting news to share with you. Our first album, the eponymous Gooneybirds has been re-released and is now available on all major streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music and Youtube. We recorded this disc at Paisley Park studios in 1990. It features our 7 piece lineup from the early Cabooze days including three who are no longer with us: Jessica Schwartzbauer vocals, Steve Rummler vocals / drums and Tom Warner on keyboards. Follow the links in the comments to stream. We hope you enjoy it. And, yeah, keep on rockin' in the free world. ✌️🫶🤘

HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED HOW OUR BAND GOT THE NAME THE GOONEYBIRDS? Well I’ll tell you…

Years ago whenever the band was interviewed, more often than not, someone would ask the question: "How did you guys get your band name?" It happened regular enough where we would treat the opportunity as creative license to have some fun and make up a new story each time. So one band member would say something like: "Hey Rums, why don't you tell the story" or "Hey Munchie, I think it's your turn to tell the story". And each time that band member would have a chance to come up with a new creative story. This has been gong on for a long time and while I hesitate to stray from tradition (given how much fun it's been), there is one story that holds true.

Years ago in the mid-late 1980s our band was having a lot of fun playing live music but we were struggling to come up with a band name. Oh there were a good share of ideas but many were terrible or just didn't stick for some reason or another until one day... Our friend Steve Graham, who played percussion in the band for a time and who was living in an apartment near Marshall & Cretin in St. Paul, decided to have a party. As young adults do in their early 20's, Steve & his roommates had a party that included an ice cold keg of beer (I believe located in the basement of the apartment or the building). I remember the rest like it was yesterday... I was standing at the keg pouring a beer for myself & some friends when our friend Dustin Boyd came walking up to the keg waiting for a pour. Somehow we got on the topic of struggling with a band name and Dustin said without hesitation: "You guys should call yourselves the GooneyBirds". I replied in amazement: "That's it!" 👏😂
That’s our story & we’re sticking to it. Well maybe… 😉

Related to this story, yesterday was a special day for our friend Dustin Boyd as he's an Earth Day birthday boy and while I know we're a day late, let's not be a dollar short in thanking our buddy Dustin for giving the GooneyBirds our band name, and by everyone wishing Dustin a belated Happy Birthday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DUSTIN!! 🍻🎂🎁🎉

Gooneybird friends and family! Gooney alum Adam Moe (vox, fiddle) has a new record and it's pretty darn great! He's an excellent songwriter. Bonus fact: I play some guitar on this record (this is Pete O posting). Give it a spin. Give it a like on your streaming platform. The link is in the comments. If you are so moved, maybe even buy the darn thing. And... keep on rockin' in the free world. ✌️🫶🤘
