Ostomates can freely swim in a private pool, like in a condo, or in a public pool—just like everyone else. The Fair Housing Act* applies to private pools, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)** covers public pools, so you’re protected doing laps or taking a dip in a hot tub.

Spina Bifida Association

This July during Disability Pride Month, we’re highlighting several disability rights people may not know they have. To start: did you know that medical supplies and devices don't count toward your carry-on limit during air travel? ✈️

This is a right under the Air Carrier Access Act (ACAA) that many medical device users who travel by air may not know they have.

It’s a good idea to let TSA know before you board and follow their screening instructions. Happy and safe travels!
