The Dipper workshop prepared this violin by Peter Young , Philadelphia ca. 1780 for playing and exhibit in the National Music Museum's new exhibit "Of Thee I Sing", celebrating the USA's 250th anniversary. Andrew and Claire visited the exhibit this last weekend in conjunction with board meetings and highly recommend it.

Great to see our old friend and colleague, Carlo Chiesa, at the AFVBM meeting in Boston. He and his son Tommaso presented their research on the early Milanese makers in preparation for their book on this subject.

Andrew’s first guest at his AFVBM exhibit March 21 in Boston was Nate Kim who owns a Klingenthal violin restored by Andrew and his Roda model bow. We thoroughly enjoyed hearing him play and test a few bows. If you have a chance to hear Nate perform, don’t hesitate. He is amazing.

Andrew Dipper’s Dodd model viola bow is an homage to the Dodd family, who produced some of the finest English bows of the 18th and 19th centuries. The robust quality of these bows followed the requirement for more volume and dynamic power in the English orchestral style.
