OMEED volunteers are going to great lengths to reach flood survivors in the difficult-to-reach regions of Swat and Pakthunkhaw in Pakistan. OMEED donated school books for underprivileged students for grades 5th t0 10th for year 2021 in Muzaffarabad, AK.

We visited SOS School to see Basit and Hasnain two remaining students sponsored by OMEED. Basit will be going to college next year and Hasnain is following his footsteps. We took their favorite goodies to share with their friends.

A visit to Bright Horizon School for the mentally challenged children in Mangla, AK, was exhilarating. The school is run by the army from donations. It was uplifting to see these kids being treated and educated according to their mental and physical capacities individually in a clean and well equipped facility. Staff was courteous, kind and knowledgeable. OMEED donated funds for extension of the facility.

OMEED started a "food for scholars" project 2 years ago where poor families with school age children were donated monthly rations of food staples, flour, rice, cooking oil, assorted lentils, sugar, tea, dried milk, basic spices, tooth paste and a disinfectant, Dettol. The only stipulation was to keep their children in school. Noticing the success of this project we have been increasing the number of families every year. A typical monthly supply to be picked up by the family. Adjustments are made according to the family size and needs.

OMEED has increased the number of sponsored students to 26 this year in SOS Vocational school in Rawalpindi. Follow up on previously graduated students by school authorities indicated a 100% employment rate.
This year a new vocational course on solar panel installation has been added to the curriculum.

More school books have been added for children grades 5 to 8. Change of syllabus is being contemplated by the education department. OMEED will donate the books accordingly for next year.

Kashif Wellness free clinic for women and children in Dhamial, Rawalpindi. Oct 2019 visit. Number of patients and patient care continues to improve despite the increasing costs due to high inflation and Rupee devaluation.

Our pilot project of "Books for scholars" was launched this month. School books for grades 5 to 8 , color coded for each subject and grade. Books will be issued to deserving students. They will exchange the books for the higher grade next year.

OMEED is proud to announce a new project - Books for Scholars, launching in September of 2019. Curriculum books for 5th- 8th grade will be provided free to the scholars who can't afford them. We will start with 2,000 books which will be bound with plastic covers for reuse and returned at the end of the academic year for the next class.
