Neighborhood Roots is a nonprofit that operates Southwest, Kingfield, and Nokomis Farmers Markets.
Our mission is to bring neighbors together to buy, eat and learn about local food. We support local farmers and businesses and promote vibrant community.

If you're feeling a little, well, suffocated by the impact of human activity on our ecosystem health this week, we've got a simple way for you to make a difference - come volunteer at the farmers' market.
We need help running our community swaps and zero waste program. No experience necessary! We train you in day of, and you spend a couple hours listening to live music, chatting with neighbors, and diverting compostables, recyclables, and household goods from the landfill.
The impact? By reducing market operation costs, you're helping local, sustainable farmers bring their food to our community at an accessible price, improving their livelihoods while decreasing the carbon footprint of our food systems. And you get to build community with people who care for the planet the same way you do.

Launched in November 2025 to fill the gap left by a loss of government funding, Neighbor Bucks is a community-powered program which matches SNAP-EBT dollars spent at the market. Because of your support, we have been able to triple our neighbors' financial access to farm-fresh food.
