Mike Horvath
Hi, I’m Mike!
• I write and produce original music
• I perform beatbox live loops using all vocals
• Lately I also play the cajon
Come say hello!
Inspired by an eclectic collection of rock, hip-hop, metal, and Broadway musical roots, Mike Horvath creates a larger-than-life sound with live and virtual instruments, vocal harmonies, and introspective lyrics about the mundane life of a 30-something-year-old.
In high school, my older sister didn’t have a CD player in her car, so one night I brought a battery powered CD player in the car with us on a drive to show her “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge” by My Chemical Romance.
“Helena” always spoke to me, and at the time I was going through my own experience with the death of a friend (I still think about Carl all the time), and going through life generally emo af. But this song just rips, and always has.
Even its progression is interesting to me, which is largely in C/Am with the exception of G # dim in the chorus. It’s a really haunting song and I thought a slower acoustic version would be fun to do!
Full version coming to YouTube soon!

this is what I do when things don’t LINE UP
I went and ran the acoustic lead part through distortion…I think I dig it. This is an acoustic-ish version of my 2022 release “The Storm.”
I also fixed some things that were bugging me from the last mixdown. Basically I’m in that endlessly tinkering phase I should get out of soon.
I only learned what ADAT and S/PDIF were like last year! But now that my Presonus interface seems to be having input issues, an ADAT expander seems like a solid solution for my ever-changing input needs.
also shoutout to my Sweetwater homie Derek lol, featured in the screenshot 😎
I wrote The Storm in 2019 and finally made an acoustic ish version of it!
