Hey All - Here's my latest piece for the Northeaster, my community newspaper. Fun to write for them, and this piece was especially interesting after a visit to the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam where I could experience the vivid colors of cadmium still preserved. Oh, and as I was reading an Northeaster issue, I found out I'd won a prize for a previous story! More on that later.

First time seeing 's Circus Juventas related to my latest article for the Northeaster about Aubrey Larson, a talented Minneapolis teenager, who has worked her way up through the ranks over the years to perform in higher level acts for CJ. It was a pleasure to speak with her, her mother Cristina and her coach Chimgee to learn about what it takes to excel. Thoroughly enjoyable entertainment! Don't snooze - it's the last weekend to experience them at the big top in St. Paul! Saint Paul Parks and Recreation.

4. Barbara Cohen & Little Lizard: Revisit the hip 1990s scene in Twin Cities indie rock. In Little Lizard, Jacqueline Ultan's cello, Marc Anderson's percussion and Jeremy Ylvisaker's guitar accompanied Cohen's expressive, often haunting, sometimes precious voice. All of them went on to other work: Cohen with Brother Sun, Sister Moon, Orbital and Air; Ultan with Dan Wilson, Ondara and Soul Asylum; Ylvisaker with John Prine, Bon Iver and the Suburbs, and Anderson with Max Roach, Angelique Kidjo and Taj Mahal. After two decades in Los Angeles, Cohen has returned to Minnesota and has reunited Little Lizard. Opening are the Hang-Ups, a tasty Twin Cities pop band dating back to the '90s. Having so much fun tapping back into my journalist training at the University of Minnesota Hubbard School of Journalism & Mass Communication to write for the Northeaster Newspaper, my local community paper. Here's my latest article, "Catholic Eldercare celebrates 40 years of growing old together..." My editor said I didn't have to be Catholic to write it. . . 🙂 https://www.mynortheaster.com/news/catholic-eldercare-celebrates-40-years-of-growing-old-together/
