Help out a great org!

💛🦝Wishlist Wednesday 🦝💛
Sometimes it’s the simplest items that make the biggest difference in the daily care of our animals!
At the Wildlife Science Center, there are certain supplies we go through constantly to keep enclosures clean, animals comfortable, and daily operations running smoothly. While they may not be flashy, these heavily used items are absolute essentials for the work we do every single day!

Some of our current high-need items include:
🛠️ Contractor bags
☀️ Shade cloth
🪣 20 quart livestock feed buckets
🧽 Scotch-Brite green scrub brushes
🗑️ Trash bags

Every donated item directly supports the care and wellbeing of the animals that call WSC home, and we truly couldn’t do it without the incredible support of our community. Whether it’s one item or several, every contribution helps more than you know 💙

Kevin Gonzalez, an 18-year-old U.S. citizen, died just one day after being reunited with his parents in Durango, Mexico, following their release from U.S. immigration custody.

Gonzalez was diagnosed with colon cancer earlier this year in Chicago. Following his diagnosis, Gonzalez’s parents had attempted to cross the border to see him in Chicago, but they were taken into custody by ICE agents and were put in immigration detention.

While his parents were detained, Gonzalez flew back to Mexico and issued a public plea for his parents to be released from custody so they could be by his side. An immigration judge later ordered the expedited release of his parents so they could reunite with him.

Reflecting on crossing the border, Gonzalez’s father said, “just to see my son, I would jump a wall, go through barbed wire; for that same reason, I say to myself, I would give my life for him.”
