The guitar that I am working on now is inspired by my late friend Leo Whitebird. He was a musician, a craftsman, a recording studio owner, a luthier and much more. After he passed away I received some very nice wood that he had acquired for building guitars. With Leo in mind, I will be using his wood to create a new guitar. The back, sides, fingerboard, soundboard and other parts came from his shop. From the profits, there will be a donation made in his name to charity.

We recorded this shortly before the recent tragic events in Minneapolis. I’m not sure why Tim Sparks picked this tune, but it seems to capture the mood, at times. I am looking forward with hope for better days.

Tim Sparks and I spent the evening with Mike at Steeple on Main recording studio in Maple Plain. A super cool vibe!

The adjustable neck has been around for many decades. It solves several issues that acoustic guitars develop over time. Seasonal humidity changes cause the soundboard to rise and fall, changing the string height. And as years of tension pull on the wood, neck angle also changes, eventually needing an expensive neck re-set. The ability to quickly adjust the neck angle will correct these problems simply by turning a screw.

This neck has a pivot bolt and an adjustment bolt that is accessed through the sound hole. Once the desired string height is achieved, the pivot bolt is tightened and the neck is clamped tightly in place. This insures excellent coupling for maximum tone and volume.

I’m getting the bridge attached to this new F2 model. I am looking forward to getting it strung up and making music.

Tributes from around the globe are pouring in with the news of the overnight passing of Minnesota music legend, Garry "Jellybean" Johnson.

A member of both The Time and The Family, and a producer for the likes of Janet Jackson, Johnson was a foundational figure of what has become known worldwide as the Minneapolis Sound.

Two days prior to his passing, Johnson celebrated his 69th birthday.

Today I am getting around to finishing the F2 prototype. I decided to go with a sunburst. No multi scale or arm bevel on this one, but there are a couple of cool things happening with the neck and neck joint……..more to show about that later.
