🚧👍🏾 We have an update to share for neighbors & businesses along Cedar Avenue - especially near the 600 block.
City & County teams have been coordinating closely - and we’re glad to see that progress is being made. The work near 6th Ave is on track to be completed by the end of day THIS Friday (or sooner:)!
Following that, Hennepin County plans to reopen that section of Cedar as soon as it’s safe to do so - with improved access expected early next week.
👉🏾 We know this closure has been challenging - and we truly appreciate the patience of all the residents, students, workers, and small businesses during this time.
🤍 Thanks to you all for making your voices heard and sharing how this project was being felt across the neighborhood - your input matters!
👉🏾 And thank you to Hennepin County Commissioner Angela Conley for her partnership - we are all so lucky to have her!
We’ll continue to share updates as remaining work moves forward.

📢🚧 Cedar Avenue Construction Update:
Hennepin County has begun accessibility improvements along Cedar Ave (Riverside Ave to 7th St) - a key corridor connecting Cedar-Riverside, the University of Minnesota West Bank, Augsburg, and downtown.
👉🏾 What to expect (now through early May):
• Cedar Ave is closed between Riverside Ave and 7th St
• Local access remains for residents and businesses (Riverside to just north of 6th St)
• Detours for drivers and bikes: Riverside Ave and 20th Ave
• Pedestrian access is being maintained with temporary routes
• Some transit stops may be moved or temporarily closed
👉This work includes rebuilding curb ramps to meet ADA standards and improve access for neighbors walking, rolling, and using mobility devices.
⚠️ Plan ahead, follow posted detours, and allow extra travel time.

Understanding Mental Health to Prevent Youth Violence, Substance Use, and Risk
Mental health plays a critical role in the well-being, safety, and future of our young people. Many of the challenges youth face today, including violence, substance use, and other risky behaviors—are often connected to stress, trauma, untreated mental health needs, and lack of support. By increasing awareness and understanding, families and communities can better recognize warning signs, reduce stigma, and provide youth with the guidance and resources they need to thrive.
The Annual Daryeel Youth Summit in Minnesota brings together youth, parents, community members, and professionals for a day of learning, reflection, and dialogue. Through keynote speakers and powerful stories from individuals with lived experience, including youth and parents, the summit will highlight the real-life impact of mental health on our communities.
