✨ Project Highlight: Custom Steel Brackets ✨
These custom fabricated steel brackets were designed with purpose and precision to be seamlessly mortised into a 2” thick ash railing. By incorporating metal into the design, we introduced another natural element to complement the rich textures of the space.
This project brings together a beautiful contrast of materials:
🪵 Natural Ash Railing – showcasing the warmth and character of the wood grain
🔥 Black Shou Sugi Ban Risers – adding depth and drama with a traditional charred finish
🔩 Steel Brackets – enhancing the aesthetic with a modern, industrial touch
The interplay of these elements creates a harmonious blend of natural beauty and contemporary design. This isn’t just about function – it’s about crafting an experience that elevates the space.
At Drew Ryan Custom LLC, we’re passionate about thoughtful design and meticulous craftsmanship. This project is a testament to how intentional details can transform a space.

Hand-Carved Ash Door with Shou Sugi Ban Frame
This linen closet door is crafted from ash, with a hand-carved texture that truly comes to life when the sun hits just right. Every gouge mark was carefully shaped by hand, creating a tactile contrast that plays with light and shadow.
The frame is shou sugi ban, tying in with the staircases in the home, adding a rich, charred depth to the natural wood grain. The panel itself is held in place using a sliding dovetail—a nod to timeless craftsmanship.
Functional. Beautiful. Built to last.

✨ Custom Ash Office Door ✨
This home office needed a balance of openness and function, so I built this ash door to create visual space while maintaining sound insulation. The stiles were milled and carefully selected to create a bookmatched look—sapwood on the outside, heartwood running through the center—giving it a natural, cohesive flow. Insulated glass adds a layer of sound control without closing off the room.
A piece of craftsmanship that brings warmth, structure, and purpose to the space.

✨ Clean lines, warm tones, and functional design. ✨
This custom walnut sofa table with sleek hairpin legs brings both style and practicality to our space. The tapered teardrop shape with rounded ends fits snugly behind the couch, offering the perfect spot for plants, books, and everyday essentials.
Handcrafted simplicity at its finest.

I recently came across this mobile sauna design I sketched up a while back and decided to open up the file for a fresh look. A few quick renders later, and here it is!
It’s been a while since I last modeled a project, but sharing past renderings and completed builds with others has reignited my drive to create. Now, with a few projects lined up that could use some visualizing, I’m excited to dive back into the design process.
Let’s see where this inspiration leads! 🔥♨️

Gouge texture on an ash door

This project is a solid white oak table with square turned legs. The table can be set up at 7.5’ long (photo 1) or 9’ long (photo 2) by replacing the bread board ends. I wanted this table to be able to extend, but without leaves and visible seams. Either configuration looks like it’s intended size.

Sauna repair for a client that has a small fire that could have ended differently. Thanks to his keen sense of smell he was able to put the fire out in time and the sauna was able to be salvaged. My intent was to reinforce the area where the stove sits and blend the damaged area into the newly repaired area.
