Testing activities are picking up on the eastern end of the METRO Green Line Extension!
After wrapping up the first phase of testing on the west end of the 14.5-mile corridor, trains are now out moving between the Target Field and Bryn Mawr stations in Minneapolis.
Through this testing, we are making sure all the systems and signals that guide train movements are functioning as they should. In all, some 4,000 tests will be completed before service begins in 2027.
Please remember to:
⚠️ Obey all traffic signals
🛤️ Stay off tracks
🚸 Cross only at designated crossings
If you spot a potential safety issue, contact the 24-hour hotline at 612-373-3933. For emergencies, always call 911.

One year ago, the Metro Transit Police Department tragically lost Lt. Beverly “Bev” Rodriguez in an off-duty accident. While she may be gone, she will never be forgotten by anyone whose life was touched by her work.
Through her tireless dedication to the MTPD's Homeless Action Team, Lt. Rodriguez exemplified what it means to be a public servant. She approached her work with boundless empathy and a generous spirit, always treating those experiencing homelessness with compassion and respect. She built bridges based on dignity and decency with all that she encountered across our region.
Lt. Rodriguez never sought recognition for her work, dedicating herself to her duties with true humility. Nevertheless, we remember and honor her good deeds and her commitment to the values of service, compassion, and the inherent worth of the human soul.
In her name, MTPD will be observing a day of service as an agency later this week.
We miss you, Bev.

The Pride Progress Flag is up!
We gathered at our Heywood Campus to raise the flag with our PRIDE Employee Resource Group, leadership, and employees—celebrating Pride Month with joy, reflection, and purpose. This annual tradition is one of the many ways Metro Transit shows solidarity with our LGBTQ+ family, friends, and coworkers. It is a meaningful moment that reminds us of the power of visibility and community!
Thank you to everyone who joined us!

The Law Enforcement Torch Run Final Leg is a longstanding tradition of Special Olympics, bringing together peace officers and athletes to carry the Flame of Hope towards its ultimate purpose: to light the cauldron at the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics.
This year’s Torch Run is special for several reasons: it is the first ever “coast-to-coast” Final Leg, with two separate legs converging in Minnesota, host of the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games.
Runners representing Special Olympics Minnesota are also wearing shirts bearing the name of Metro Transit Police Department's Lt. Beverly Rodriguez, who was a tireless supporter of Special Olympics Minnesota before her untimely passing one year ago.
Metro Transit is proud to support Special Olympics Minnesota with a specially wrapped METRO Green Line train to deliver to Athletes and special guests to today’s Torch Run event!

Serena Swenson, a recent planning and design intern, uses transit here and whenever she travels, collecting transit cards whenever she travels. Here, she talks about how she gets around and why she chooses to use transit.
🚍 How do you generally get around?
I live in south Minneapolis so for my commutes I usually take the 17 or 18 and then transfer to the C Line or D Line downtown. Outside of that, I like to check out local coffee shops or bookstores and will take a variety of routes to get wherever I need to go.
When I was a student at the U of M, I'd take the 2 to and from campus every day, and my roommates and I would take the Green Line to get groceries. It was nice having a Universal Transit Pass as a student.
🚍 Why do you choose to use transit?
I love how convenient and sustainable it is, not having to worry about car problems, and getting to know the city. I also like to be able to read, listen to music, and enjoy the view on my commute.
🚍 What advice do you have for people who are unsure about taking transit?
I encourage you to use your choice of maps or the Transit app to see if you can replace any of your daily trips with transit. Transit app is nice because you can see various route options and when to leave to catch the bus or train.
🚍 Have you used transit elsewhere?
When visiting other cities, I would much rather get to know the local transit system than have to pay for a rideshare service. I love seeing the similarities and differences in transit systems and collecting unique transit cards. When I was studying abroad in Taiwan, they had the EasyCard, which has many unique designs to choose from and was very easy to reload at the various convenience store locations. My friends and I had a competition to see who could get the most stamps at transit stations.
