Touch grass? We're too busy touching soil! 👩‍🌾

Specifically, 10 cubic feet of Coast of Maine Organic Products, Inc. organic soil, gifted to us from Bayside Garden Center. This generous donation was made possible by Coast of Maine's Growing Good Program!

Big thanks, Bayside Garden Center & Coast of Maine! You bring life to our garden beds (literally)! 💚

From the classroom to the kitchen! 🍿

Kindergartener Ruben brought his Youth Chef Academy-Primary learning home with a FoodRight Ranch Popcorn kit... and he was all in! From pouring kernels to adding seasoning, Ruben proudly made the snack himself and enjoyed it with his family. 😋

Huge thanks to Ruben’s mom for sharing these sweet photos! Moments like these show how hands-on cooking can spark healthy habits, confidence, and family connection beyond the classroom. 💚

Fresh flavors, real feedback, and community leadership at Rufus King High School 🥗✨

FoodRight’s Good School Food Advocates hosted a salad dressing taste test featuring two Milwaukee-made favorites from Hundred Acre: Green Goddess and Lemon Basil Vinaigrette. 💚🍋

Students sampled each dressing with fresh veggies, shared feedback, and helped shape school meal options they actually want to eat.

Huge thanks to our amazing Parent and Community Advocates for bringing energy, connection, and care to the tasting table — proving that good school food starts with community. 🌱

Milwaukee Changemakers hosts food pantry cooking workshop 05/19/2026

Anita in ACTION!

Our Lead Parent Organizer, Anita Garrett, was recently quoted in a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article linked below:

“Stigma around going to food pantries can be difficult to overcome, Garrett said, but another hurdle pantry-goers face is not having a choice in what food they receive and how to turn those ingredients into quality meals.”

Anita has been a dedicated volunteer in our Youth Chef Academy, cooking and learning alongside students as they create delicious, plant-based meals from simple, accessible ingredients. She has also been instrumental in engaging parents and community members through our Good School Food Project, which educates and empowers Milwaukee Public Schools parents to advocate for healthier school meals and environments.

Amazing work, Anita! 🧡

Baird Gives Back in Youth Chef Academy! 💙👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

Big thanks to Chris and Anne for spending their Baird Give Back Week with our Mitchell School students last Friday!

With the help of these amazing volunteers, our students cooked up delicious and flavorful Middle Eastern Zucchini Fritters, while honing culinary skills, trying new flavors and ingredients, and sharing plenty of smiles along the way. We’re so grateful for our volunteers who help make these hands-on learning experiences possible for Milwaukee youth.
