Milwaukee LGBT Community Center
The Milwaukee LGBT Community Center is dedicated to serving the needs of LGBTQ people and to making the Greater Milwaukee area safer and more inclusive.
We focus our programming on anti-violence, healthy relationships, counseling, and financial coaching. Our Center’s resources include a lending library with over 2000 LGBT titles, meeting space, computer/internet access, and referrals.

Today, we stood in the heart of Milwaukee’s City Hall to witness a beautiful and powerful moment of recognition for Le***an Visibility Day. Surrounded by community members, allies, and leaders, we celebrated the strength, resilience, and joy of le****ns in our city and beyond.
This ceremony was more than symbolic—it was a declaration that visibility matters, that representation matters, and that every le***an deserves to be seen, heard, and honored. We are proud to have been part of this moving moment and are grateful to all those who continue to make space for love, authenticity, and community.
To every le***an in Milwaukee: we see you, we celebrate you, and we stand with you. Today and every day.

Today is Trans Day of Visibility (TDOV)
A day to celebrate, honor, and uplift our transgender and nonbinary friends, loved ones, and community members.
TDOV is about more than visibility—it’s about affirmation, protection, and love. It’s a time to recognize the beauty, resilience, and brilliance of trans folks while also acknowledging the ongoing struggles they face.
How can you show support?
• Listen to trans voices without assumptions
• Use correct names and pronouns
• Advocate for trans rights and inclusive policies
• Support trans-led organizations and businesses
• Create safe spaces where trans people can live and thrive authentically
Visibility matters. Allyship matters. Today and every day, let’s show up with love, action, and respect.

Your doctor should be a safe person to come out to. If you feel uncomfortable , you can simply state it as a fact during a relevant part of your medical history, like when discussing sexual partners, by saying something like "I'm bisexual" or "I've been in relationships with both men and women.".
Key points to remember:
Be direct and comfortable:
Choose a moment when discussing your sexual health and casually mention your bisexuality, like "Currently, I'm in a relationship with a woman, but I've also been in relationships with men in the past.".
Ask open-ended questions:
If you feel more comfortable, you can lead the conversation by asking, "How do you typically ask about sexual partners?" or "Do you have any questions about my sexual health related to being bisexual?"
Choose your level of detail:
You don't have to go into specifics about your dating history unless you want to; simply stating your bisexuality is enough.
Consider the context:
If your current health concern isn't directly related to sexuality, you might choose to bring it up later when discussing preventative care or general sexual health.
Here are a few ways to initiate the conversation:
"I wanted to mention that I'm bisexual, so you have a complete picture of my health history."
"When discussing my sexual health, it's important to know that I'm attracted to both men and women."
"Could you tell me about any specific health considerations for bisexual people?"
Important things to remember:
Your doctor should be supportive:
Most healthcare providers are trained to respect and understand LGBTQ+ identities.
Find a comfortable doctor:
If you're nervous, consider finding a doctor who is openly LGBTQ-friendly or has experience working with bisexual patients.
Bring a support person:
If you feel more comfortable, you can bring a trusted friend or partner with you to the appointment.
Bi folks deserve appropriate medical care!
