Washington Park neighbors, it is time to make our streets safer, brighter, and more walkable! Rooted & Rising Washington Park and A.W.E. (Artists Working in Education) are teaming up for a massive **Paint the Pavement** initiative, and we need your help.

# # # 🛠️ Step 1: Volunteer to Paint!

Before the big celebration, we need helping hands to prep, paint, seal, and clean our new crosswalk designs.

* **Friday, September 18 (2:00 PM – 6:00 PM):** Street Sweepers needed to scrub and prep the crosswalks.

* **Saturday, September 19:** Multiple shifts available for tape removal, priming (featuring David Rogers), painting, sealing, and clean-up.

* All ages and skill levels are welcome!

# # # 🎉 Step 2: Join the Street Party!

Once the art is down, it's time to celebrate! Come out for our community street party featuring food, painting, and neighborhood networking.

* **Date:** Saturday, October 3, 2026

* **Time:** All day, starting at 12:00 PM

* **Location:** N. 40th Street from W. Galena Street to W. Roberts Street

Join us for the 7th Annual Rooted & Rising Chili Fest & Resource Fair! Gather your family, bring your neighbors, and come enjoy an afternoon packed with good food, connection, and autumn fun.
