UWM Inclusive Excellence Center

Founded by students and opening its doors in September 2012, at the First-Generation+ Resource Center supports first-generation students, DREAMERS, and Lawton scholars, in addition to all UWM students. It regularly holds events in the office for first-generation students. The FG+RC is also home of the Lawton Scholars Program. The scholarship program is designed to increase the retention and degree attainment for underrepresented racial/ethnic minority students in the UW-System. In addition, the office is the central location for the DREAMERS Initiative. This initiative is an effort to support undocumented students and their communities. The FG+RC is also considered a "brave space" which is a location that does not tolerate any form of bigotry, harassment and intended ignorance towards students' race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, etc.
