The UWM Libraries is excited to be participating in Doors Open Milwaukee this year! Drop by the American Geographical Society Library and step inside one of the world's premier cartographic collections and discover rare maps, atlases, globes, and other treasures!

The AGSL will be open on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Visitors can enter through the main entrance of the Golda Meir Library and proceed to the east wing of the third floor. The rest of Golda Meir Library opens at noon.

Kristin Woodward, our teaching and learning team lead, spoke with Wisconsin Public Radio recently about the important of our Textbook Affordability initiative, which saves students money and helps ensure they have the proper course materials.

UW-Milwaukee's affordable textbook initiative aims to make back-to-school expenses more manageable The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is trying to make textbooks more accessible through the Open Textbooks and Open Educational Resources project which eliminates the cost of some textbooks and course materials for students.

Our very own archivist Shiraz Bhathena is joining legendary local filmmaker and UWM film professor emeritus Dick Blau for an evening showcasing Blau's archival collection, recently donated to the Archives and Special Collections Department at the UWM Libraries.

Attendees will get to watch some of Blau's iconic work, and listen to him discuss his decades-long career and stories about working in Milwaukee's art community. It's a night you won't want to miss!
