Money Coach training is officially a wrap, and our volunteers are ready for the fall semester! 💚💙

Over the past few weeks, 98 new and returning volunteers have been preparing to step into classrooms and build meaningful connections with students through Money Coach.

Soon, they’ll begin working alongside teens to put financial skills into practice, build confidence, set goals, and make informed decisions about their futures.

When Money Coach volunteer Wilson Xavier Lima was asked by his students why he's a Money Coach, his answer was,

Milwaukee group launches network to help young adults build wealth A Milwaukee man said his wealth planning and determination started in high school, when he was part of a SecureFutures program. He bought his own home at 22 years old.

A new school year means new goals and new conversations about the future.

For educators and counselors, September is a natural time to help students think about what comes after high school, from career exploration and Academic and Career Planning to education, finances, and future goals.

But planning for the future can go beyond “What do you want to be?”

When students see how choices about careers, education, income, and expenses connect, the future becomes more real. They can compare their options, understand the trade-offs, and make more meaningful decisions.

Mark brings with him extensive experience in youth development, mentorship, and program leadership, with a strong background in building relationships, fostering teamwork, and helping young people grow toward their goals. He also brings valuable experience coordinating programs, developing strong team cultures, and collaborating with families, schools, and community partners.

We’re excited to have Mark bring those skills to SecureFutures as he helps support our Money Coach students, volunteers, and school partners.

Milwaukee Public Schools educators are gearing up for a new school year and getting ready to bring personal finance to life in the classroom! 📚💰

Our Money Path Delivery Specialist, Vincent Wallace-Haygood, joined Marti Diaz, Personal Finance Instructional Coach for MPS, and Ryan Wood, Partnerships Manager at Next Gen Personal Finance, at the MPS Personal Finance Professional Development Day.

Together, they’re helping educators head into the classroom with the tools, resources, and support to make personal finance meaningful and relevant for their students.
