Kaida was starving and alone when she was found wandering the streets and brought to WHS one month ago. Severely malnourished, her protruding bones, lack of muscle, and general weakness had us very concerned. We don’t know how she came to be in this heartbreaking condition, nor how long she was fending for herself outside, but we were grateful for the chance to help Kaida.
Our vets developed a plan to help her safely gain weight and are carefully monitoring her recovery with the help of her foster family. While we are thrilled to share that she is becoming ever more playful, strong, and social with each ounce she gains, Kaida still has a long road ahead of her and could use your help. ❤️‍🩹

Sun's out, tongue's out! Meet Gene, a lovable 10-year-old with a list of attributes as long as his perpetually-hanging tongue! 😝
Sweet Gene isn't a big fan of cats, but he is a fan of looking adorable and can guarantee you he'll win hearts wherever he goes.
Gene is gentle on his walks, enjoys sniffing around, and...well, unintentionally licking things.
He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and we'll even throw in a washcloth with his adoption fee, for... reasons 👅💦

Beth, one of our dedicated volunteers, passed around delicious pumpkin-inspired, frozen enrichment cups, helping the pups in our care stay entertained and engaged! 🫶

Beau was overwhelmed when he arrived at the WHS Racine Campus with the people who found him wandering through their backyard. As he began to decompress and move a bit more freely, it became clear he was having trouble putting weight on his right hind leg. When X-rays revealed the severity of the injury, amputation soon became the best option for Beau to live a pain-free life. ❤️‍🩹
With the help of the vet teams at our Ozaukee and Milwaukee Campuses and the support of his foster family, Beau was soon feeling strong, healthy, and happy as can be. The love Beau brought to their home was felt throughout the house. As the time neared for him to be placed for adoption, they shared with our foster team that “he’s a lovey little guy who enjoys cuddling, being close to his people, and curling up wherever you are. He even 'talks back' with soft, cute meows when you speak to him — which makes him extra charming.”
It wasn’t long before all that chatter had the family as convinced as Beau that he was already home, and his days as a foster were traded in for life as an official member of the family! 💕💕
