SPJ-Milwaukee Pro Chapter

The Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) is one of the oldest organizations representing journalists in the United States dating back to 1909. SPJ promotes the free flow of information through the daily work of its nearly 10,000 members; works to inspire and educate current and future journalists through professional development; and protects First Amendment guarantees of freedom of speech and press through its advocacy efforts. SPJ's stated mission is to promote and defend the First Amendment guarantees of freedom of speech and freedom of the press; encourage high standards and ethical behavior in the practice of journalism; and promote and support diversity in journalism. SPJ has nearly 300 chapters across the United States that bring educational programming to local areas and offer regular contact with other media professionals.
