Our last Jazz Legend:
Louis Armstrong
One of the finest Trumpeters to ever live. Louis Armstrong aka “Satchmo'' is our 5th Jazz Legend. Popular for songs like “What a Wonderful World,” and his cover of “La Vie En Rose” are still popular today. Although shorter than our other legends, Armstrongs 50 year career saw the evolution of jazz in which he played a huge part. He helped introduce the ideas of s**t singing, and the solo performance. Like Duke Ellington he was able to help cross over and reach millions internationally. This was unheard of at the time for black musicians. Armstrong’s impact as the talented artist led to future greats like Freddie Hubbard, Donald Byrd, and Miles Davis.
