For Working People, The RNC Was A Headache 07/21/2024

Transit riders were shamefully overlooked leading up to this event. It's great to see this observation of the impact of the RNC on working people in Milwaukee. That said, the security perimeter was likely far outside the purview of local policy makers. Also, hosting a political convention will likely remain a VERY rare thing in Milwaukee's future. In contrast, the city and county have signifant influence on most other events that happen annually. The Marathon, a number of parades, night markets, etc. all cause MCTS routes to be rerouted. Urban Milwaukee and other news outlets should consider the impact of these events because this disruption happens so often and the city/county have influence over where they happen. While these are all valuable events in Milwaukee, greater efforts should be made to reroute these events rather than rerouting MCTS. Hoping that this critical analysis of the RNC's impact on Milwaukeans extends to these other events. Urban Milwaukee Milwaukee County Transit System

Paramedics Never Left Ambulance to Look for Woman Who Froze to Death 01/31/2024

This is a disturbing failure by the paramedics. But the paramedics aren't the only ones at fault here. The state and county have failed transit riders for decades. All transit riders suffer from deplorable conditions, especially in harsh winter weather. It's not only those who die waiting for a bus that suffer. Everyone that survives waiting for a bus suffers as well. Getting across the state's largest city by public transit shouldn't be a test of survival. It should be an easy process that gives riders dignity. Buses should arrive every 10 minutes, ALL stops should be cleared of snow.

This is a simple and obvious solution but it would require reversing decades of cuts, with state and regional cooperation to advance an integrated regional transit system. In the meantime flags should fly at half mast across the state to recognize this horrible tragedy and the ongoing suffering of people who simply need and want to take the bus across metro Milwaukee.

Paramedics Never Left Ambulance to Look for Woman Who Froze to Death Paramedics were on the scene for around 7 minutes, CEO says
