Serenity Inns to Take Over Operations at Vin Baker Recovery Facility, Preserving a Critical Community Resource 06/11/2026

A Door to Recovery Will Remain Open

We are proud to announce that Vin Baker Recovery will continue serving our community under the leadership of Serenity Inns.

Following the recent closure announcement by AMS, Serenity Inns stepped forward to preserve this vital recovery resource rather than allow an 8,000-square-foot treatment facility to sit empty while people continue to struggle with addiction and wait for help. Beginning June 15, the facility will operate as Vin Baker Recovery operated by Serenity Inns.

At Serenity Inns, we believe that when someone reaches out for help, that opportunity may never come again. Recovery cannot wait.

As our CEO Kenneth Ginlack stated:

“Our community does not need another empty treatment center while people are waiting for help. Our goal is simple: keep the doors open, save lives, and continue providing hope to those who need it most.”

We are grateful for the support of Vin Baker, our Board of Directors, and our community partners as we work together to ensure that hope and healing remain available for those who need it.

Many men grow up without ever experiencing healthy manhood, healthy communication, emotional safety, or nurturing fatherhood. As a result, many fathers in recovery are trying to rebuild relationships with their children while still learning how to heal themselves.

Serenity Inns’ Rise & Restore Initiative was created to help men break generational cycles by focusing on both manhood and fatherhood. Rooted in recovery principles and concepts from the Nurturing Fathers Program, Rise & Restore teaches that nurturing fathers are developed through emotional growth, accountability, self-awareness, and healthy relationships.

Rise & Restore helps men:
- Understand the difference between power and nurturing leadership
- Learn healthy ways to express emotions without anger, violence, or shutting down
- Recognize how childhood experiences influence parenting and relationships
- Develop self-worth, self-discipline, and emotional responsibility
- Improve communication, listening, and conflict resolution skills
- Learn how to build trust and become emotionally present fathers
- Rise above destructive thinking and restore family relationships

At the core of Rise & Restore is one powerful belief: “A good father begins with becoming a healthy man.”

We invite community partners, counselors, recovery advocates, faith leaders, case managers, and organizations working with men in recovery to attend our upcoming Information Session and learn how Rise & Restore is helping fathers rebuild identity, purpose, leadership, and family legacy.

We are proud to share that a recent Milwaukee County audit identified Serenity Inns Inc. as a high-performing program within the Substance Use Disorder residential network. The findings reflect what we see every day—men rebuilding their lives through structure, support, and accountability. Key highlights include:

• 69.9% of clients discharged improved, significantly higher than the system average

• Highest client satisfaction score in the network (4.85 out of 5)

• Lower readmission rates, indicating stronger long-term recovery outcomes

• A program environment described by clients as safe, respectful, and transformative

Clients shared that Serenity Inns feels like “family,” where they are heard and supported in their growth and recovery journey. This recognition is not just about performance—it reflects our commitment to treating the whole person, addressing trauma, stability, and long-term recovery.

While we celebrate these outcomes, we remain focused on continuous improvement, including strengthening documentation practices and expanding housing pathways for those we serve.

Thank you to our staff, partners, and supporters who make this work possible every day. Together, we are building a model of recovery that works.
