My Elected Officials 01/26/2021

WISDOM & EXPO are asking your assistance; please contact your state legislator's today and ask them to NOT support the amendment to AB5 (WI Vaccination Plan).

IF this amendment passes it would bar most incarcerated people from being vaccinated before the general public for COVID 19. Allowing this amendment ignores that WI currently has 25 deaths from COVID 19 & over half of the prison population have contracted this disease. Prisons should be included in the vaccination plan as nursing homes, hospitals and other closed quarter facilities are, this should not be a moral argument. No one in the Wisconsin prison system has been sentence to death & our Governor & legislators should assure they don't.

These inidividuals are sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, husbands & wives, etc. They should not be defined or denied by the worst thing they have ever done. Our faith teaches us they are not less worthy nor are our lives less worthy of being saved.

Here is the language of the amendment:
ASSEMBLY AMENDMENT 1,
TO ASSEMBLY BILL 5
At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:
1. Page 4, line 3: after that line insert:
“(7m) INCARCERATED PERSONS. The department of health services in implementing a vaccination plan may not distribute the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus vaccine to incarcerated persons under 60 years of age sooner than 21 days after the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine is available to the general public.”

SCRIPT (for email or phone):
My name is __________________________, I am with ____________ an affiliate of WISDOM & I am your constituent. I am calling to voice my opposition to the Amendment to AB5. My faith teaches me that every human life has the same value and I am disaapointed that legislators wish to withhold vaccines from incarcerated people throughout our state. Currently over half of the WI prison system has contracted COVID 19, that is more than 10,000 people. 25 people have lost their lives to COVID. No one in WI is sentenced to death please vote to give WI's incarcerated people a fighting chance.

Can I count on (legislators name) vote to oppose this barbaric amendment?
