Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. From its Galveston, Texas origin in 1865, the observance of June 19 as the African American Emancipation Day has spread across the United States and beyond. Today Juneteenth commemorates African American freedom and emphasizes education and achievement.

From the Earth Ministry:
The Catholic Ecology Center (CEC) Is Now An Official Pilgrimage Site
We have in previous years promoted the Catholic Ecology
Center as a great day trip for you and your kids or grandkids during their summer vacation. It’s open year around from dawn to dusk at W1468 County Road NN, Neosho, WI, 12 miles West of Holy Hill. The CEC is located on a 60-acre segment of a 225-acre preserve of diverse habitats.
Now more than ever, a visit to the CEC is especially faithful and rewarding. That’s because Archbishop Grob has just designated the Catholic Ecology Center an Official Pilgrimage Site for the 2026 Jubilee Year of St Francis of Assisi, as proclaimed by Pope Leo, on the 800th anniversary of St Francis’ death.
The mission of the Catholic Ecology Center is to deepen faith and foster a stewardship ethic through hands-on encounters with the natural world. This is done through educational programming, stewardship projects, retreats, recreational outings and partnerships with schools and parishes.

On June 18, we celebrate International Picnic Day! Picnics have been a staple of most cultures for years and, believe it or not, their popularity can be traced directly to the French Revolution. Our definitions of a picnic might be different, but it’s a great way to bring people together for an enjoyable day.
What are your favorite picnic foods and who do you enjoy sharing a picnic with? Share in the comments below!

Virtues, Explained! - Truthfulness
Sin began with a lie.
It was a lie that Satan told Eve in the Garden of Eden, and it was by doubting God’s faithfulness — by thinking God to be a liar — that the fall of man came about.
Of course, God Himself is Truth — Adam and Eve discovered that when they believed the lie. Therefore, if we belong to God, we must live truthfully — in small matters and in large ones, so that the witness we bear to the ultimate Truth of God shall always be taken seriously. “Witness is an act of justice that establishes the truth or makes it known,” says the Catechism (CCC 2472), which also calls the act of martyrdom “truth written in letters of blood.” (CCC 2474)
When Ananias tries to deceive the Christian community and secretly hoard wealth for himself, Peter tells him he has “lied not to human beings, but to God.” (Acts 5:4) ©LPi
