Health coaching is so much more than just diet and exercise and these types of results are my favorite part. It's about finding yourself again, or maybe discovering who you are for the first time. It is the difference between plug and play health formulas that don't move the needle. It's the human connection that is so often missing these days.

It is impossible to have good health if you don't have a purpose or are just trying to barely make it through every single day. It's also hard to feel super motivated if you feel exhausted, bloated, achy on a hormonally rollercoaster all the time. It all goes hand and hand.

Lifestyle medicine is not sexy. Lab testing, supplements, fancy gadgets? These things sound cool and bring in money. And don't get me wrong, many (but not all) have their time and place. However, if we don't have the foundations of health addressed first, then all those shiny objects are not going to ultimately result in you feeling good, at least not long term.

Targeted testing and supplementation can be incredibly helpful, but let's work on the biggest needle movers of all, things like nutrition, gut health, stress, sleep and movement.

It sounds too simple, right? Wrong. Addressing the foundations of health is the #1 that ultimately improves how people feel and sets up a base for healing so that all the specifics and extras actually work. But it can feel really overwhelming of where to start.

How can I add anything new when I'm so tired and busy?

Information is power but too much information does not equal success. The key is filtering out all of the information out there to what is actually meaningful and specific to your unique situation. The key is also learning how to implement that into your life. Health coaching bridges the gap between information overload and long term results.

Eat 150g of protein per day and make sure you get 8-10 hours of restorative sleep every night, making sure you have no screen time for 2 hours before bed, and only drink filtered water but don't forget about electrolytes and make sure you're lifting heavy at least 3 times per week but restorative hot yoga is so helpful and don't forget the red light therapy and remember only organic foods, clean with vinegar and essential oils but only the pure brands and OMG the plastic in your pants😲

Finally, we finish off our 7 Pillars of Health with Movement. Fewer than 25% of Americans get the recommended minimal amount of daily exercise in and far fewer get the optimal amount. Yet we know that exercise is one of the top modifiable activities we can do to improve our health.

Our bodies are not designed to sit all day and look at screens. Movement incorporates not only an exercise plan, but also simply moving during the day more. They both are essential.

What makes a good exercise program?
-Something you actually enjoy doing that you'll be consistent with
- Strength training at least 2-3 times per week
-At least 150 minutes of moderate or 75 minutes of vigorous activities during the week
-Flexibility and balance work

If you're new to working out or it's been awhile, it can feel overwhelming and intimidating. But just start somewhere. Go outside and walk for 10 minutes after you each lunch, do 10 squats after a work meeting. Build up from there.

Ready for a more concrete workout plan? There are SO many resources out there for this but it can be too much of a good (and not so good) thing. I can help you find the resources you need to start being more confident and consistent with what you do.

Stress is the big elephant in the room that can often be the hardest thing to address. We can eat healthier foods, move our bodies and create a better sleep routine. But how do we really improve stress?

And do we really truly understand the ramifications of not addressing it?

We cannot heal with a dysregulated nervous system. Our bodies need to feel safe and secure to heal and it's more than breathing away your troubles. It's saying no to the things you feel you "should do." It's not taking on other people's negative energy or troubles. It's checking out from the constant scrolling. It's rewiring your brain and your habits to shift into a calmer state. It takes some work, but it changes everything.
